A truly modular publishing system

U of T Magazine publishes a variety of different content; news from various campus’ to innovations arising from the school to alumni achievements. Our goal from the outset was to re-imagine the magazine from the ground up as a modern digital publication.

We designed a system in WordPress that gives U of T magazine a flexible, responsive system to build custom index and article pages.

Implemented under a modular approach the site can accommodate incredibly rich storytelling.

The modules

We designed several versions of the top story on the home page and door on articles. Flexibility in the way the magazine publishes was hugely important for us. Split sections that accommodate portrait images and full bleed featured images are all a part of the tool set.

Article modules

Our modular system wasn't limited to index pages. On article pages they provide tools for building rich and engaging articles that tell the stories of the university.
